CAPTAIN & CHEF : Kyle BILIK & Alicia JOHNSON

Dropping everything in your life and sailing away to a distant exotic paradise is a thought many people have from time to time; Vivo's crew, Captain Kyle and First Mate/Chef Alicia, took an idyllic daydream and made it a reality. After purchasing their classic sailboat, Summerwind, in New York they took on the arduous and extensive task of repairs and restorations. Waving good-bye to their home port of Charleston, South Carolina their expedition to explore the Caribbean and the world began; but they decided to compete for the Guinness record for the slowest trip around the world so they are in no rush.

Captain Kyle grew up on boats and the nautical life became his passion. His mother is a hundred ton masters captain as is Kyles grandfather he comes from a long lineage of sea-faring folk and spent the majority of his childhood and teenage years apprenticing aboard various vessels. Sailing the Bahamas in his teenage years Kyle quickly became aware that he wanted to make sailing and traveling his life ambition.

Hailing from Americas oldest Seaport Gloucester, Massachusetts First Mate/Chef Alicia grew up fishing with her family and gained respect and love of the ocean at a very young age. This salty lass attended College of Charleston where she delved deep into her love of history and completed her studies with a B.A. and an A.B. in History and a B.A. in Classics. Her love of learning and yearning for adventure enabled starry-eyed Kyle to woo her aboard their sailboat and to leave everything behind and start a life of unbridled exploration.

Leaving Charleston in March of 2014 the dynamic duo sailed off for to discover the Caribbean. They sailed extensively throughout the Bahamas and spent a good bit of time in the out islands before exploring the Providenciales of the picturesque Turks and Caicos. The next stop on their unbeknownst path was the Dominican Republic; they lived in Luperon for a year and ventured through a majority of the country via motorcycle and Jeep. As charming as the DR was, Summerwind was not ready to grow an eco system on her hull Puerto Rico was next! Sailing the south shore brought some fantastic fishing and beautiful sights.

Throughout their travels they made friends, sampled interesting cuisines, and partook in cultural celebrationseveryday a new opportunity awaited them and they were always looking for the next memory. Realizing they had some substantial repairs to attend to on Summerwind, St Croix, USVI became their place of residence for six months until they could sail to their next island St. John, USVI. It is at this point that Kyle and Alicia were hired to be the next crew of Vivo, as their knowledge of the islands, adventurous spirits, and Alicia's exceptional culinary skills were considered to be the ideal assets for crew serving charter guests.

These 2 capable crew are ready to show you the time of your lives. But be warned, - there are known to be long lasting side effects ranging from unstoppable laughter to incredible adventures. Please ask your doctor if a Caribbean yacht charter with Kyle and Alicia is right for you!
