Holiday Season in the USVI
Take a break from the cold and spend Christmas relaxing on the beautiful beaches in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Enjoy Miracle on Main Street, the biggest holiday event on St. Thomas, with carolers, arts and crafts, shopping, and steel pan bands. For a relaxed NYE, find a beach bar on St John to see in the New Year; alternatively if you want to party, head across to the BVI and the famous Foxy’s NYE party.
Holiday Season in the BVI
The BVI is the New Year’s Eve capital of the Caribbean. Take part in “boat-hopping” parties with stops around the many beach bars on the islands. Many restaurants and bars hold “Old Year’s” celebrations on New Year’s Eve, with parties until dawn. The most famous is held at Foxy’s Bar and Restaurant on Jost Van Dyk with live music, dancing, dining, and drinking. The Trellis Bay NYE party starts at noon on New Year’s Eve and features fireworks and reggae in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Holiday Season in the Bahamas
Christmas starts every year with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Pompey Square, Nassau; there are also Christmas concerts and celebrations. Tourists hit the beach to enjoy the Caribbean weather, with temperatures in December in the high 70’s. There are beach parties held during the holiday season, especially on New Year’s Eve.
Holiday Season in Puerto Rico
In Puerto Rico, Nochebuena, or Christmas Eve, is celebrated over Christmas day. Family and friends gather for a traditional dinner, exchange gifts, go out and party or take a drive to enjoy the Christmas decorations around town. New Years, Año Viejo, is also celebrated with lots of family and friends; hotels on the main island will have NYE events with fireworks. For a more informal NYE try the entertaining street party in Culebra; leave out the pretenses join in the party.
Holiday Season in St Marteen
Every year the Christmas house puts on a display of lights and holiday decorations and is a nice place to visit if you have young kids. Or shop till you drop at the street fair on Cannegieter Street with local and handmade goods for those looking for some last-minute presents or souvenirs to take home. Check out the massive NYE fireworks display in Great Bay in Philipsburg, which starts at midnight. Get there early to claim your spot on the Great Bay Beach Promenade.
